Slow Cooker Cheesy Bacon Garlic Bread

This bread requires very little work and also doesn’t require yeast, which is an added bonus. It also doesn’t require the use of your oven, which can be a big help when putting together family dinner!

Slow Cooker Cheesy Garlic Bread

2 cups all purpose flour

3 teaspoon baking powder

3/4 teaspoon iodized salt

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1 cup room temperature milk

4 tablespoons melted butter

2/3 cup shredded cheddar cheese

2/3 cup bacon bits, cooked crisp

3 cloves garlic, fresh grated on a zester

Directions:

Line your slow cooker with a sheet of parchment paper.

Heat bacon bits in a saute pan. Once crisp, add grated garlic and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds. Remove from the heat and set aside.

In a small mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder. stir to ensure it is evenly combined. Add milk and melted butter and stir just until ingredients are not longer dry. Place the dough inside of your lined slow cooker. Press gently toward the edges, yet still leaving an inch more between the dough and the crock. Sprinkle the top of the dough with the bacon bits and shredded cheese.

Drape a single layer of tea towel (or paper towel if you need) over the top of the slow cooker and then cover with the lid. Cook on high for 2 hours. Do not remove the lid during baking.

When time is up, remove the lid and the tea towel. Carefully grab the edges of the parchment paper to remove the loaf from the slow cooker. Serve warm.
