Cabbage steaks are a food item that, I will admit, I was a little leery to try. It turns out, though, that I loved them! It might be because of the delicious garlic butter that these “steaks” are baked in, but I like to think that I also loved that fact that my family was getting so many good vitamins from this “new to them” vegetable!
Garlic Butter Parmesan Cabbage Steaks
1 head of cabbage sliced into 5-6 slices about 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick
1 stick butter (8 tablespoons), melted
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper
4 cloves garlic, fresh, minced
3/4 cup shredded parmesan cheese
Directions:
Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray a baking sheet with pan spray and lay cabbage slices on the baking sheet, being sure to not overlap.
In a small bowl, combine melted butter, salt, pepper, and garlic. Stir until evenly combine and brush over the top of the cabbage steaks. (be sure to use it all!) Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the top of the buttered cabbage.
Bake for 15-20 minutes. Turn oven to broil and continue cooking the cabbage until the parmesan has turned golden brown, about another 4 minutes.
Remove from the oven and serve!
