Slow Cooker Pineapple Upside Down Dump Cake

Dump cakes in the crockpot are one of our favorite desserts.  I always keep a yellow cake mix on hand because of how much we love them and how easy they are.  Because of the added richness of the buttery caramel and cherry layer of this dessert, I definitely recommend serving this warm, caramel-y dessert with vanilla ice cream.  Everything is better with ice cream, right?

In a small bowl combine 1/4 cup of melted butter and brown sugar.  Stir until a paste if formed.  Spread the sugar and butter mixture across the bottom of a greased slow cooker crock.  Add cherries and then pineapple tidbits.  Cover the fruit with dry cake mix and drizzle the remaining 1/2 cup of melted butter over the top.   Turn slow cooker to high and cook, covered, on high for 2 hours.
