I finally tried the whipped coffee that is making up one of the latest food trends! If you haven’t seen it yet, this frothy coffee drink is really having a moment right now in the social media world. While I am usually a black coffee drinker, the creamy frothy drinks looked too good to resist! Plus…I have been trying to add more calcium into my diet so I figured it was a win/win for me to get into this.
To make this delicious drink, I used a hand held coffee frother, but a hand mixer or a wire whisk would work, but it could take 5 or more minutes to whip by hand. Since I wasn’t looking for any extra work today, I took the easy way out!
I definitely think this qualifies for being able to make specialty coffee drinks at home. I know my 14 year old sure thought I was pretty awesome when I gave him one to drink while he was working on his homework this morning!
Dalgona Coffee
2 tablespoons instant coffee granules (or 1 tablespoon instant espresso granules)
1 tablespoon granulated sugar
2 tablespoons hot water (I used the microwave)
Milk (I used unsweetened vanilla almond milk)
Ice (I used leftover coffee)
Directions:
Place the instant coffee granules, sugar, and hot water into a small bowl or cup. Whisk until the mixture forms stiff peaks. Pour the milk into a serving glass over ice. Spoon the frothed coffee mixture over the top. Enjoy!
